Copyright and written by Hal Savage, The author has put together ten rather unusual stories, two labeled as novellas. The first, entitled “The Woman across the Hall” is one of misinterpretation of body language while most of the others deal with some form of mystery, crime and/or detection with also a missing persons, a sick practical joke tale and one of revenge. Discussion: From this reader’s point of view the collection is unique in that the stories are rather unusual with some dark turns that lead to somewhat unexpected endings. The 4th, 5th and 10th are perhaps the best detective stories and the 9th is as labeled “One Dumb Stunt”, but to reiterate, all terminate unusually and several strain credibility to a degree.

Some of which are seemingly imaginative and coming from the inner recesses of twisted minds. The short stories are easy to read and great for small pockets of leisure time. Some stories are rather creepy while others are melancholic. Reading the stories seem to transport you back in time with characters featuring cowboys, local Indians and even the Klu Klux Klan. A rather adventurous and entertaining read. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a dark and realistic tale.

Good collection, easy to read!
I found this to be an interesting collection of short stories. They are very well written and cover a variety of topics and situations. I liked the first few the most, although many of them are quite entertaining. It is hard to know when one ends and another begins, so you’ll likely have to backtrack every now and then. There were a few I didn’t enjoy as much as others, but the characters are pretty well written for the stories being so brief. You may be sorry when some of the tales end, since you’d like to see more of where the story is going. The good thing is you get to decide what happens instead. Some books do not let you do this. Overall, it is a breezy read that I demolished in one afternoon and there is a good chance you’ll get engrossed into it as well if you let yourself.

Very Entertaining
I love books that contain multiple stories in them, they really just offer something new, different, and fun with every turn of the page, and you never really know what is around the corner. That is precisely what you get with “Roadhouse Rendezvous and Other Stories”. While the stories are quite similar in terms of the “L.A. Noir” style of 1940’s mob and crime, each one has its own unique twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. They take you into the world of crime and really take you into the dark bunkers of cat and mouse-like games and these stories truly are entertaining overall.
